Ski Trip
If you’ve been wanting to get up to the snow this winter, but you haven’t got a chance to organize something yet, we can save you the trouble. For a weekend in mid-late August we’re heading up to Falls Creek, spending Friday & Saturday nights at local lodgings and skiing on the mountain all day Saturday. There’s already six people signed up including myself and Terry and we’d love it if more people would like to come with us. For more info contact the shop on (03) 9793 5248.
Vanuatu
This September Paradise Divers is heading to the tropical paradise of Vanuatu. We’ll be spending One week in the secluded marine sanctuary of Hideaway Island which plays home to all types of tropical marine animals including the rare Pink Anemone, turtles, dolphins and hundreds fish species. We will also spend one week in Espiritu Santo diving on the SS President Coolidge, which was a luxury liner turned to WW2 transport ship. The “Coolidge” as it’s come to be called, sunk during WW2 when it hit a barrier mine while entering the local harbour through an unsafe passage. The “Coolidge” sits on a slope with the bow at 18m and the props at 65m making it accessible to divers of all levels. We depart Melbourne on the 3rd of September, if you are interested in joining in with trip or you would like to travel somewhere else email me at terry@paradisedivers.com.au.
Dry Suit try dive
This Sunday (31st July) at Mornington is your chance to experience the sensation of diving with your clothes on…Hmmm that is, you get to wear your clothes under an Apollo drysuit. Our Apollo representative Jim Dyer has got a fantastic range of drysuits for us to try out. Ring the shop for more details on Apollo drysuits and how to book in.
Melbourne Boat Show
At the start of this month several club members participated in a rare diving experience, these divers got to show there skills to the public in the Oceanic tank at the Melbourne Boat Show. We’d like to thank them for doing such a great job, and we feel they need a bit of recognition for representing our diving community.
A big thanks goes out to Tara Binger, Ron Erskine, Nicole Oakley, John Di Quinzio, Shane Svenson, Terry Oakley, Gary Allbutt, Derek Metcalfe, Joe Felter and his two sons Blake and Trent. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!
Alfred Hyperbaric Chamber
Last Thursday we visited the Hyperbaric Chamber at The Alfred Hospital, which is not only the biggest chamber in Australia but is also the only public chamber in Melbourne. So chance’s are if you got the bends you’d be going there, however I’m pleased to announce that you would be in good hands. All the staff that we met were enthusiastic to answer all our questions and chamber operator Paul Axton did a great job of guiding us through the causes, prevention and treatment of Decompression sickness. If you’d like to come on the next trip email us at the shop.
For more information on any of the above or to book into one of our upcoming activities, just contact us at the shop. Hope to see you soon.
Happy Diving,
