Emergency First Response Recertification

The EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE Recertification course offered by PADI is to review the seven basic skills with students who were previously certified with Medic First Aid. During their initial training students were taught the skills of patient care necessary to support the life of an ill or injured person, using an approach designed to teach the importance of consistent priorities of care.

During this course, students review the correct approach to the patient, the importance of continuity of care, how to perform primary care and secondary assessment and care. The segments covered include:

Student who want to renew their certification in Emergency First Response must take the Emergency First Response Recertification course prior to the expiry date of their previous certification. Students whose Emergency First Response certification has expired will be required to complete the entire Emergency First Response Course to regain certification. It is recommended that divers and members in leadership levels (Divemasters, Assistant Instructors, Instructors etc) maintain their emergency care skills be coming recertified in Emergency First Response

Prerequisites for Emergency First Response Recertification Course

To enrol in this course, an individual must:

  1. Be 12 years of age by the starting date of the course
  2. Have been certified in Emergency First Response within the previous 24 months.

Course Materials

The Emergency First Response Recertification Course is systems-dependent. To meet the standards of this course, the instructor is required to use the Emergency First Response Recertification course audio-visual and instructor guide. Students must perform skills using mannequin and person practice. Students may use either the Emergency First Respose Manual.

Course Duration

A minimum required time frame is three hours.
