Rescue Diver

 

Course Overview

The PADI Rescue Diver course is an important and crucial step in expanding a diver's knowledge and experience beyond
a purely recreational level. This PADI Rescue Diver rating is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership training
(Dive Master, Assistant Instructor, Open Water Scuba Instructor).
    The course will be demanding, through realistic in its conduct, content and approach. Interaction, discussion, variety
and flexibility will be stressed during skills training. Classroom instruction will stress the application of information to the particular needs of students and varying environments.
    Through this course, students will come to appreciate and understand the importance such training has on the safety of others and on the diving industry as a whole.
    Although the course is designed to be enjoyable, the nature and context in which such training may be used is quite
serious. And as in training in simular fields of emergency care, the primary objective of this course is to prevent the need for
use of rescue skills.

Course Standards


    The PADI Rescue Diver course is Designed to develop the necessary Knowledge and skills for individuals to effectively perform diver rescues and assists, Manage diving-accident situations, render proper first aid and qualify for PADI Divemaster training.
     

    Course Prerequisites


    To qualify for PADI Rescue Diver training, an individual must:

    1. Be Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or an equivalent rating. This prerequisite is
    primarily based on individual competency in various aspects of diving. This competency in various aspects of diving.
    This competency level within the PADI system is defined by the PADI Advanced Open Water certification.
    Therefore, the Term equivalency as stated in the standard is defined as proof of certification
    beyond entry level; and a minimum of 20 logged dives documenting experience in the
    following areas: deep and navigation.

    2. Be 15 years of age or older.
    Note: Students under the age of 15 may obtain a PADI Junior Rescue Diver certification.
    A junior diver is required to meet all the requirements for certification other than age.
    The Junior Rescue Diver certification card carries the requirement that the individual must dive with an adult.
     

    Course Structure

    Home Study at your leisure
    Classroom 1 Tuesday 7.00 pm Approx 3 hours duration
    Classroom 2 Thursday 7.00 pm Approx 3 hours duration
    Classroom 3 Friday 7.00 pm Approx 3 hours duration
    Ocean Training Session 1 Saturday 9.00 am Approx 3 hours duration
    Ocean Training Session 2 Saturday 1.00 pm Approx 3 hours duration
    Ocean Training Session 3 Sunday 9.00 am Approx 3 hours duration
    Ocean Training Session 4 Sunday 1.00 pm Approx 3 hours duration
    Ocean Training Session 5 Sunday 4.00 pm Approx 1 hour duration

    Classroom sessions are held at PARADISE DIVERS, 253-257 PRINCES HWY,  DANDENONG.
    Ocean Training Sessions are usually held at appropriate locations around Port Phillip Bay, at a place best selected for training and  weather conditions.
