Courier

Diving on the wreck of the Courier

The Courier is a steamer that was scuttled in 1927. It is very pretty wreck over a bright sandy bottom. she lies in 42 meters of water directly out from the rip. It is for experienced divers only with the right equipment and training. Strong tides sometimes flow over the wreck making for excellent growth on the structure, in particular white, pink and burnt orange jewel anemones. The bow section still has a few tiles in the fore deck and jewel anemones on the rails. The mid section is quite low apart from two boilers, which lay end for end. The stern the most fish life as it sits as high as 3metersoff the sand. Bottom time is short and several dives are needed to cover and fully appreciate this visually pleasing reef called the courier.
